About me

Welcome,

Hey, I’m Kayla! I’m a lifestyle photographer, nursing student, mountain-and-prairie girl, and an all-around people person through and through.

I was born in the cozy little mountain town of Sparwood, BC, but when I was almost two, my family packed up and moved to Grande Prairie, AB. That’s where I spent the next 16 years of my life, growing up surrounded by the open skies and golden fields of the prairies. There’s something about that vast horizon that stays with you. Even now, no matter where I go, the prairies will always hold a special place in my heart. They’re where I learned who I was.

If you had known me back then, you probably wouldn’t guess I’d end up where I am now. I was the shy kid who clung to her mom’s side at every family gathering, barely whispered a word to new people, and definitely never pictured herself behind a camera or in front of a crowd. But somewhere along the way, that quiet bubble I lived in popped! And I began to find my voice. I went from staying in the background to being the girl on the school announcements (yes, it's true!), the one making people laugh, getting involved, and embracing who I am out loud.

After high school, I returned to British Columbia to begin a new chapter. Trading prairie grass for mountain peaks. I currently attend UBC Okanagan, working toward my Bachelor of Science in Nursing with the dream of becoming a registered nurse. Caring for people has always been in my heart, and nursing allows me to live that out in a meaningful way.

Photography came into my life as another extension of that same love for people. It’s not just about snapping a few nice photos...it’s about connection. It’s about seeing people exactly as they are and making them feel safe, confident, and celebrated in front of the lens. Whether you’re laughing with your partner, wrangling little ones for a family session, or just showing up as yourself—I want you to feel like you're spending time with a friend, not posing for a stranger.

My style is honest, candid, and rooted in emotion. I live for the in-between moments: the belly laughs, the quiet eye contact, the messy hair and muddy shoes, the things that are real and raw and beautiful in their own way. Yes, I might climb a hill or dance in the background to get you to loosen up (and I’ll probably laugh at myself while doing it), but that’s the fun of it, I want your session to feel as joyful and natural as the memories you’re making.

When I’m not behind the camera or studying for exams, you’ll probably find me hiking, painting or crocheting, spending time with my friends and family, or dancing it out in my room... lots of dancing. Creativity has always been a part of who I am, and I try to infuse a little of that into everything I do.

If you’re looking for someone who will laugh with you, cheer you on, and capture the real magic of your story—I’d be honoured to be your photographer.

Let’s create something beautiful together.
